GS-35B Sockets and Chimneys
(Updated March 3, 2006 9:27)
Please Note - I didn't start this project to sell anything. I began receiving requests for SOCKETS and I decided to fill those requests. If you would like me to build a socket for you I will be happy to make you one. I maintain a small stock of sockets (though I may have none on hand due to a recent hamfest) so if you ask me to build you one, that is exactly what I will do.

If you need the chassis plate a particular size for your amp or conversion project, I will make it to your specs. This is a service I can offer for very little or no extra cost for those of you that are making a conversion or that have an application that can't be met with a simple square plate. I can even build the socket on your plate. Please contact me for a quote. Otherwise, I supply the chassis plate for a single socket as a 6" aluminum square with #6 mounting holes for flat head screws.
The chassis plate for dual sockets is identical except it is 6" by 11".

The standard chimney is PVC and is included but a
solid virgin *Teflon® (*PTFE) Chimney is available as an extra cost option (see below). CAUTION: I have documented proof that there is a problem using PVC as a chimney. CLICK HERE for pictures and more information. I will provide PVC if that is what you want but I only recommend PTFE (Teflon) as a chimney.

Other arrangements can be handled on special request.

Machined Solid Teflon®* (virgin *PTFE) Chimney

I can now provide you a machined solid *Teflon® (virgin *PTFE) Chimney for your GS-35B project.

*Teflon is not cheap but this is NOT a cheap chimney. This is the REAL DEAL and, without a doubt, the best material available for the chimney in your amplifier project. It has the best resistance to RF fields and high voltages. It withstands temperatures up to 500 degrees F; far above any temperature you will encounter in a properly operating amp. At this time there is
no other solid *Teflon® Chimney available for the GS-35B anywhere in the world. My *Teflon® Chimney was first and it is the best.

This chimney is exactly what you will want to use for resisting high temperatures, extremely high voltages and RF fields up to and beyond the limits of the GS-35B under ALL operating conditions and frequencies.

This *Teflon® Chimney is approximately 1-1/2"H x 4"(ID) x 5"(OD) and is carefully machined to insure that it will fit the bottom of the GS-35B anode cooler. Sizes are approximate due to the availability of material.
I make this chimney specifically for this socket and the GS-35B. This *Teflon® Chimney can be used with other socket arrangements as long as your grid plate is recessed one inch below the chassis plate or you shim up the bottom of the *Teflon® Chimney. If you need one for a different arrangement or size, please contact me for a quote.

The chimney alone weighs 15 ounces and the shipping weight is 1 lb. 5 oz.

Your special requirements in *Teflon® material can be met. Please contact me for a quote.

NOTE: This chimney will work with the tube socket built by Tom Adams, WB8WJU (also supplied by Tom's Tubes). If you have mounted his socket using round head screws, you can either swap them with flat head screws or file a notch in the bottom edge of the chimney to clear the screw head.

March 3 , 2006 - The cost of raw material has increased. The price I am charging for my *Teflon® chimney is an effort to make it economical to have the best possible chimney in your GS-35B amplifier. The price I charge for the chimney alone is now $50.00 but I still offer it at the old price with a socket. This price is subject to change but I will hold the price down as long as I can. Any change in price will appear here first.

Single socket with the *Teflon® Chimney in place: $170.00 plus shipping on 2 lb. 8 oz.

What are the fees charged by PayPal?

PayPal does not charge you, the buyer, anything.

PayPal does charge the one receiving the money, me, a fee.

This fee is based on the amount being received whether you use a credit card or whether you transfer funds directly from your bank or whether you have funds in your PayPal account. The basic formula is this: Domestic - 2.9% of the total plus $0.30. Payments from outside the U.S. incur a fee of 3.9% of the total plus $0.30. These fees are deducted from the amount you pay before I receive the money. Here are a few examples (all amounts are in U.S. Dollars):

Domestic:
$10.00 total = 2.9% ($0.29) plus $0.30 = $0.59 fee = $9.41 actual amount I receive
$45.00 total = 2.9% ($1.31) plus $0.30 = $1.61 fee = $43.39 actual amount I receive
$125.00 total = 2.9% ($3.63) plus $0.30 = $3.93 fee = $121.07 actual amount I receive
$325.00 total = 2.9% ($9.43) plus $0.30 = $9.73 fee = $315.27 actual amount I receive

Canada and others (all cross border transactions are figured at 3.9%):
$10.00 total = 3.9% ($0.39) plus $0.30 = $0.69 fee = $9.31 actual amount I receive
$45.00 total = 3.9% ($1.76) plus $0.30 = $2.06 fee = $42.94 actual amount I receive
$125.00 total = 3.9% ($4.88) plus $0.30 = $5.18 fee = $119.82 actual amount I receive
$325.00 total = 3.9% ($12.68) plus $0.30 = $12.98 fee = $312.02 actual amount I receive

These fees apply to all transactions whether it is for merchandise or shipping.

I do NOT charge you these fees!

So why do I accept PayPal?

To make it easy on you!

And why don't I charge extra?

You wouldn't like it and neither would I.

I would rather lose a little in fees than frustrate you with add ons.

*Teflon® is PolyTetraFluoroEthylene (PTFE)
PTFE is a fluorocarbon-based polymer. It is commonly called Teflon® which is the registered trademark of DuPont. PTFE is also manufactured by other companies. It is available with or without filler materials to meet specific needs. The PTFE used here has no fillers and is called "virgin PTFE".
